Do not forget to protect new growth on lilies, delphiniums, hostas and any other plants affected, from slugs and snails.
If staking was neglected earlier in the season, prop up tall perennials such as lupins, delphiniums and gladioli.
To encourage a second flowering period you should cut back delphiniums and geraniums after the first flush of flowers.
