Did you recently mow your lawn? Add the grass clippings to the compost heap in thin layers.
Composting is useful in all gardens: just avoid letting any one material dominate the heap, especially grass clippings.
Give meadows a final cut before the winter: aim for 7.5cm (3in) height and let the clippings lie for a couple of days.
Mow lightly and frequently so that short grass clippings can remain on the lawn to act as a moisture-retentive mulch.
